The incident happened on Sat. 4/18/2020 around 6 p.m , after a suspect began firing a rifle at officers responding to a family violence call at Twin Lake Villas Apartments at 2917 Hunter Road.

Just after 7 p.m., San Marcos PD said Hunter Road was closed from Reimer Ave. to McCarty Road for an in-progress investigation.-
Police Incident Underway: Hunter Rd is currently closed from Reimer Ave to McCarty Rd for an in progress investigation. People in the area need to shelter in place and the public needs to avoid the area as the scene has not been made safe.

San Marcos Police Department - UPDATE ON HUNTER ROAD INCIDENT:
It is with very heavy hearts that we let you know that one SMPD Officer was killed and two others injured in the line of duty while responding to an assault/domestic disturbance at at Twin Lake Villas Apartments, 2917 Hunter Rd.
The two injured officers have been transported to Seton in Kyle for surgery. Police report that the suspect is deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
