According to Liberty County Sheriff's Office, six cyclists were hit as they traveled eastbound on Highway 787 near Rye at approximately 11:00 am On Saturday 10/30/2021
The group of 6 were participating in an annual ride from San Diego California to St. Augustine Florida when they were hit by a car authorities believe it is a Ford Focus according to Sheriff's Patrol Cpl James W. McQueen.
Two cyclists were airlifted to a hospital in Beaumont. 1-other cyclist was taken by ground to a hospital in Kingwood, according to authorities.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is leading the investigation.
