For 74 years an invitation from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has been deli
vered to the State of Texas Governor by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Patrol. At 6 am Sunday morning the ride started at the fairgrounds in Hempstead. Close to 40 riders and horses from Harris County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Patrol, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Patrol, Waller County Mounted Patrol, and the Conroe Police Department Mounted Patrol started off for the trip to Austin. Set up every 1/2-mile from Hempstead to the Travis Expo Center riders passed off the baton. It was a beautiful day for the ride. On Monday the riders will leave the Travis County Expo Center and go the Capitol to deliver the invitation.
