The accused shooter in the March 10 incident near a Cleveland funeral home is in custody. Cleveland Police identified Meer Toqiuddin Saleem, 21, of Sugarland as a suspect during their subsequent investigation. Police say Saleem fired the shots so near mourners outside the funeral home that people scrambled and even crawled under vehicles for safe cover. Turns out Saleem was someone considered “close to the family”. The incident and investigation resulted in a warrant being issued for Saleem’s arrest listing the third-degree felony charge of Deadly Conduct.
On Saturday, March 30 the Patton Village Police Department arrested Saleem during a traffic stop at Hwy 59 and Creekwood for the new charge of Unlawful Carry of a Weapon and the felony Cleveland warrant.
When Meer Saleem’s Montgomery County charge is handled, he’ll be transferred to the custody of Cleveland Police for booking into their jail. Saleem has a $1,000 bond in Montgomery County and is currently held without bond on the Cleveland Charge connected with the shots fired around the funeral home.
