On Saturday Morning 8/29/20 Polk County Sheriff’s Office dispatched a deputy to the 100 block of West Dove st. in the Escapees Subdivision off of Hwy. 146 in reference to a Welfare Check, ( called in by a daughter of the couple who live at that location ) she told dispatch that she had not been able to make contact them for two days.
Soon after arriving on scene the deputy requested assistance.
Texas Rangers joined PCSO investigators to execute a search warrant for the property. When they entered the home, investigators found items in the residence and an adjacent building that prompted concerts of possible explosive devices.
Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) assisted with identifying the suspicious items.
When ATF agents could not identify the objects, they set a small explosive charge and detonated the object.
This explains what friends and neighbors who were gathered a short distance away from the residence heard that sounded like an explosion or gunfire in the early afternoon.
Law enforcement had been been on scene since about 10 a.m. Saturday before hearing this.
After the object was detonated, investigators re-entered and found 3-deceased inside
After investigators spoke with the couple’s daughter and neighbors, they believe the deaths occurred on Thursday.
Following an inquest, Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace Robert Johnson ordered the bodies to be transported to the Harris County Forensics Lab. Medical Examiners will determine the cause of death, when the deaths occurred and positive identification of the deceased.
A neighbor and close friend said a couple had been shot by their adult son, investigators from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney Lee Hon remained on the scene as a 5 p.m. Saturday.
