Drowning, Granger-Pines Subdivision in Conroe

Just after 4 pm, 0n Saturday 10/3/2020 Montgomery County dispatchers received a call for drowning in a retention pond in the Granger-Pines Subdivision in Conroe. Units arrived and met with several individuals who stated a family member had been swimming and went down without resurfacing. Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Caney Creek Fire Department, and Texas Game Wardens arrived on the scene. Divers entered the water which is fairly shallow to start a preliminary search. Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens then put their boat in the water and activated the side-scan sonar. As they made their first pass the victim was found in approximately five feet of water close to 7 pm. Eickenhorst Funeral Directors transported the victim to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy. The victim is reported to be a male in his 50's.
