Sgt. Edwards with the Cleveland Police Department remembers Linda Bloomingdale when she came on as an unpaid Reserve Officer at the Cleveland Police Department. For the next 3-years, they rode together daily. Edwards said one day he was called in and had not called her to tell her he was going to be working a shift. After that night Edwards said, “I never did that again”. “She was not afraid of anything and was one of the best Officers and partners I ever had”, he said. They became dear friends from that day on. Later she went to the Precinct 6 Constables Office with Royce Wheeler as Constable. When John Joslin took over as Constable she left and went to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office as the Environmental Officer and Animal Cruelty Deputy. Linda left Liberty County about 2-years ago and moved up to Navasota to care for her ailing husband. He passed away about 6-weeks ago. Linda remained on the ranch raising her Alpaca’s. Last weekend, when her family could not reach her on the phone a ranch hand, went to check on her and found her on the floor of the home unresponsive. She was flown by Air Medical to Bryan where she passed. Linda was an organ donor and her liver is now been placed in another person in Florida. She was always a giving, caring woman who loved animals. Monday night Sgt Edwards and several other Liberty and Montgomery County Deputies escorted her back from Bryan to Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland. Funeral arrangements are pending.
