Kidnapping investigation underway in Bella Vista community south of Plum Grove

At approximately 9:30pm Tuesday night, 32 year old Erika Rios Valdez was kidnapped from a residence at gun point by an acquaintance, identified as 38 year old Abel Fajardo. According to Liberty County Sheriff’s Lead Investigator Shandalynn Rhame, witnesses said that Valdez was in the process of parking and unhooking a food service trailer on CR 3404 in the Plum Grove area of north Liberty County when Fajardo drove up and forced Valdez into his pick-up truck at gun-point. As Fajardo fled the area, the brother of Valdez gave chase in his vehicle but eventually lost sight of Fajardo’s truck.

The kidnapping victim, 32 year old Erika Rios Valdez is described as being 5’-4”, 120 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair with blond highlights. She was last seen wearing a black sweater and jeans. Abel Fajardo was seen fleeing the scene in a 2005 GMC white diesel 4X4 “ duelie” pick-up truck bearing Illinois license plate number 2816533B. There is the name “Duramax” in large white lettering across the rear window of the truck ( see attached photo). The Investigators are still trying to determine a confirmed motive for this kidnapping as the investigation is on-going. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the kidnapping victim Erika Valdez or the suspect, Abel Fajardo or Fajardo’s vehicle are ask to call the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office at (936) 336-4500 or the Multi-County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392- STOP (7867). Anyone calling Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and may receive a cash reward for the information provided that results in the arrest of the suspect in this case.

Below article - By Bluebonnet News - The Liberty County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in locating a vehicle involved in a kidnapping around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Bella Vista subdivision south of Plum Grove. The victim - 32-year-old Erika Rios Valdez - reportedly was forced into a vehicle at gunpoint outside her home on CR 3404 and has not been seen since then.
