On 8/31/2020 a Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction deputy was travelling east on US-90 in the Dayton area when he observed that the driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee was not wearing a seat belt.
A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Donald James Kudro, W/M, DOB: 05/09/1972.
The front seat passenger was identified as Cameron Nelson Kingsley, W/M, DOB: 12/11/1989.
The deputy had Kudro exit the vehicle. A check with LCSO dispatch confirmed that Kingsley was a convicted felon. He was convicted on 4/4/2019 for Burglary of a Building.
The deputy had Kingsley exit the vehicle. An object was seen in Kingsley’s pocket. When the deputy asked Kingsley what it was, Kingsley admitted that it was synthetic marijuana. At that time the deputy requested assistance from other Interdiction deputies.
A probable cause search of the vehicle was made. The deputy located a black Smith & Wesson .380 handgun inside the center console.
The pistol was on top of a clear plastic baggie that contained 4.5 grams of a clear crystal-like substance that was believed to be methamphetamine. A black digital scale containing residue of methamphetamine was also located.
A further search of Kingsley produced four (4) small baggies of synthetic marijuana weighing 6.8 grams that was packaged for sale. A pipe was also found. Kingsley advised the deputy that he knew that the handgun was in the console. When the deputy searched Kudro he found a small bag containing suspected methamphetamine and a straw located in Kudro’s wallet. Both subjects were taken in to custody and transported to the Liberty County Jail without incident.
Cameron Nelson Kingsley was charged with: (1) Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance – First Degree Felony, (2) Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a felon – Second Degree Felony, and (3) Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance – First Degree Felony.
Donald James Kudro was charged with: (1) Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance – First Degree Felony, and (2) Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon.
