LCSOCI- unit,Traffic Stop on a Stolen pickup in Daisetta turns into Pursuit

The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit received information that a subject identified as Kevin Wayne Nobles, W/M, DOB: 02/08/1990 was believed to be driving a stolen white Chevrolet step-side pickup. Deputies with the Interdiction Unit located the described vehicle. It was parked in front of a residence on Idaho Street in Daisetta, Texas. The deputies checked the license plate number on the pickup and found that the plate came back to a different year model and color. A check of the vehicle identification number was made and they received confirmation that they vehicle was stolen out of Harris County.

The deputies also received information that Nobles was carrying a .380 semi-automatic handgun while being a convicted felon. The deputies observed Nobles exit the residence and get in the stolen vehicle. A traffic stop was initiated and Nobles fled from the deputies. The pursuit went North on FM-770 towards Hardin County and then he turned around and headed South on FM-770. Speeds reached approximately 110mph. Another Interdiction Unit was ahead of the pursuit and “stop sticks” were deployed at the intersection of FM-160 and FM-770. The “stop sticks” successfully punctured front passenger tire on the fleeing vehicle.

Nobles continued to evade the deputies. Eventually the right tire separated from the rim causing the vehicle to slow down. The pursuit continued across Hwy-90 on onto CR-119C. The deputies were able to take Nobles into custody for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle (Third Degree Felony) and Evading Arrest/Detention with a Motor Vehicle (Third Degree Felony). A search of the vehicle was made and the handgun was found. Since Nobles was a convicted felon he was also charged with Unlawful Possession of a firearm by a Felon (Third Degree Felony). He was transported to the Liberty County Jail without incident.

(Information is taken from the deputy’s report. The defendant is presumed to be innocent until proven guilty.)
