Shortly before 6 am on Thursday March 5, 2020, a white Chevy pickup, driven by Marcelino Sorto, 61, of Conroe, was north-bound on South Washington (Business 59). Marcelino's pickup left the pavement to the right, and struck / knocked down / broke-in-half a City of Livingston utility pole. The accident knocked out power to the south end of the city. Sergeant Darrell Newman and Officers Donald Dyson and Jason Thomas with Livingston Police Department were dispatched to the scene. No injuries were reported. Sorto was cited for unsafe speed. A crew from the City of Livingston arrived and had electricity to the south end of the city restored in about an hour.
