In the early morning hours on Thursday March 5, 2020
An arrest warrant was executed for the apprehension of Roberto Alverez (35 yrs old). Mr. Alverez was wanted for sexual assault Victim under 13, forcible rape and aggravated assault. The warrant was out of Watertown, South Dakota.
The united States Marshals Gulf Coast Task force was the lead agency in locating Mr. Alverez. Liberty County Sheriff's Deputy Zack Harkness, who is assigned with the Marshals Office, assisted in the apprehension of Mr. Alverez. The Splendora Police Department was called to assist using there unmanned aerial aircraft. Houston Police Department and Harris County Sheriffs Office also assisted with the operation.
Mr. Alverez was located in heavy brush staying in a small wooden shelter. Mr. Alverez surrendered to Law enforcement when confronted without incident.

City of Splendora Police Department - Early on Thursday March 5, 2020 the Splendora Police Department sUAS Division was requested by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force and the Liberty County Sheriff's Office to assist in the apprehension of a wanted felon out of South Dakota. This person was reported to be hiding in the Plum Grove area. The sUAS Division Pilots worked closely with ground units and the subject was quickly located and taken into custody without incident. Captain Hadrych and Corporal Hardin utilized the zoom and thermal technologies of two aircraft to assist in the arrest of Roberto Carlos Alvarez. Alvarez was booked into jail for two Felony charges of First-Degree Rape and one Felony charge of aggravated assault-strangulation out of South Dakota. Chief Wieghat and the Splendora Police Department are proud to work with our local, state and federal law enforcement partners to bring these fugitives to justice. ***All arrests and photos are public record. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.***
