The suspects, Trenton Chase Cook Jr., 18, and Isela Judith Venegas, 18, were both from Cleveland. The shooting, happened at approximately 2 am on Wednesday October 16, 2024
Left one teen dead and two others injured. According to Lt. John Bennett, spokesperson for the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, two 17-year-olds were picked up by two friends—an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old male—when another vehicle pulled up behind them and opened fire. One of the 17-year-olds was fatally shot, the other was hit twice, while the 18-year-old sustained a graze wound to the head. The 19-year-old driver was unharmed. Two teens had picked up two others near the Valero on CR 341 at FM 1010. That is when a vehicle pulled up behind them and opened fire filling the vehicle with bullets. The driver of the vehicle that was hit drove from Plum Grove to the Kingwood Elite Hospital at Kingwood and I-69. That is where the 17-year-old was pronounced deceased. Kingwood contacted the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office who in turn contacted Liberty County. The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, Texas Rangers, and the Sheriff’s Office Interdiction Unit worked together on the case, with critical assistance from the Cleveland ISD Police Department in identifying the suspects. Additional charges may be pending as the investigation continues.
