No more Reality TV contracts for Texas Law Enforcement

Liberty County Sheriff Bobby Rader posted on his FB page-

HB 54 – Prohibits a Law Enforcement agency, EXCEPT those that employ game wardens, from contracting with a reality television program and from authorizing film crews to accompany an officer in line-of-duty activities. Reality television is narrowly defined as a program for entertainment purposes, excluding reporting on matters of public concern by journalists.

Note: This law will NOT not have an immediate effect on the Liberty County Sheriff's Office because we do not have any contracts with reality television programs. As far as I know, there are no LCSO deputies pursuing a career in Hollywood so there should not be any moaning or groaning on their part.

House Bill 54, also known as Javier Ambler’s Law, was named after the man who died in police custody about an hour after his encounter with Williamson County sheriff’s deputies.
