Onalaska, Officer Involved Shooting Polk County

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE POLK COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE REGARDING SHOOTING. This morning, Polk County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were involved in a shooting. The preliminary investigation indicates that on March 3, at approximately midnight, Deputies and other law enforcement officers responded to a residence located in the Sportsman’s Retreat subdivision in Onalaska after receiving a call from a male at the home who had multiple felony warrants for his arrest. The male suspect made threatening statements towards law enforcement. After several hours of negotiations, officers deployed a chemical gas in an effort to take the male into custody. Soon after, the suspect began firing a weapon at the officers and they returned fire; striking the suspect. The suspect was treated at the scene and transported to a CHI St. Luke’s Hospital in Livingston for treatment. The identity of the suspect is not available at this time. This is an ongoing investigation. No additional information is available at this time

Shortly after the 8:oo am Tuesday (03/03/20), there was an officer involved shooting. All officers are reportedly okay. The suspect was not killed and has been hospitalized. Polk County Sheriff's Deputies, State Troopers, Constables, Texas Rangers and other state police are on the scene.

The following is a release from the Polk County Sheriff's Office:

Polk County Sheriff's Office are on scene of an officer involved shooting in the Sportsman's Retreat Subdivision of Onalaska. All Law Enforcement and Emergency Personnel are ok and not injured. Texas Rangers will be conducting the investigation and more information will be made available at a later time.
