Blanchard, Shortly before 7 pm on Sat. February 22, 2020, a white 2006 Jeep Liberty driven by Peyton Valderez, 18, of Livingston, was north-bound on FM-2457 and stopped to make a left turn (into the parking lot of LeBlanc's Cajun Kitchen). Valderez was slammed from behind by a white 2015 Ford Escape driven by Hannah Yetter, 20, of Kingwood. Both vehicles came to rest in the roadway. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Scenic Loop Volunteer Fire Department, Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office (Corporal Austin McCracken, Sharon Brooks, and Garrett Childers), and Trooper Allen Stanton with the Texas Highway Patrol. An 8 year old girl who was a passenger in Valderez's Jeep was transported by ambulance to a landing zone (FM-2457 next to Blanchard Baptist Church) and flown by PHi Air Medical to Houston with undisclosed injuries. There were no other injuries reported. Some witnesses allege that Valderez possibly didn't have her lights on when the dark hour wreck happened. This claim has been disputed. The accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol. Yetter's vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. Valderez's vehicle was recovered by All Star Wrecker and will be stored in Livingston.
