At approximately 12:30pm Saturday afternoon 10/5/19
A 2000 Toyota 4 Runner, driven by Douglas Cash, 58, of Beaumont, was west-bound on FM-287 East about four miles east of Corrigan. Cash was pulling a large trailer (large for a 4 Runner) with 4 wheeler on the trailer. The trailer began to whip. Cash left the pavement to the right, then re-entered the pavement and turned over losing his trailer and its contents. Cash's vehicle turned over on its passenger's side and caught fire. Fortunately, Cash was able to quickly exit the burning vehicle. Corrigan Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the scene along with Troopers Donny Akers and Allen Stanton with the Texas Highway Patrol. Firemen extinguished the fire. Cash was a little roughed up, but otherwise physically okay. The accident halted all traffic on 287 East during investigation and cleanup. No citations were issued. The totaled vehicle was recovered by Clifton Chevrolet out of Corrigan.
