Polk County, SUV CROSSES CENTER LINE STRIKES 18 WHEELER

Car Hits 18 Wheeler, Rolls, Driver Ejected,

SCHWAB CITY, At approximately 12:25 pm on Wed. February 19, 2020, a silver Honda Pilot driven by Donna Michelle Isaaks, 39, of Dayton, was north-bound on US-146 (near Hillbilly Heaven). Isaaks' vehicle drifted left, crossed the center line and struck the trailer portion of a south-bound 18 wheeler driven by Michael Timothy Schaffer, 55, of Columbia, Illinois. The 18 wheeler was hauling an enormous tracked vehicle that portruded over the edges of the trailer. The equipment tore off the driver's side of Isaaks' vehicle. Isaaks' vehicle then rolled ejecting Isaaks in the process. Her vehicle came to rest upright in the grass on the south-bound side of 146. Schaffer pulled his rig to the south-bound shoulder. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the South Polk County Volunteer Fire Department, and Troopers with the Texas Highway Patrol including Corporal Ramey Bass, Ashlee White, Nick Hatton, and David Morris. Isaaks was transported by ambulance to a landing zone and flown to Hermann Hospital in Houston with massive injuries. Schaffer was physically okay. Traffic on 146 was blocked for over 2 hours during investigation and cleanup. Isaaks' vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol. Special thank you: Ken with Ken's Towing.
