Earlier this week, a narcotics K9 deputy assigned to the Special Operations Division with San Jacinto County Sheriff's Department noticed a strong odor of Marijuana in the Trails End area while on a call for service. The deputy began investigating after a 911 call at the next door residence. Through his investigation, the deputy established enough probable cause to have a search warrant issued by the Honorable Judge Wells of the 411th District Court. In the early morning hours of Saturday May 6th, 2023 deputies and investigators, along with Narcotics K9 “Duna”, executed an evidentiary search warrant on a residence in the 800 block of Butler Rd. in the Trails End area. Deputies located a manufactured “grow house” operation that contained 159 Marijuana plants, weighing approximately 320 pounds. Some of the plants were almost 9 feet tall. The estimated street value of these plants is over $635,000. The deputies located two males at the residence, Alejo Lopez (39) and Alejo Osvaldo (60) and placed them in custody. Lopez and Osvaldo were transported to the San Jacinto County Jail where they both were booked in and charged with Delivery of Marijuana >50lbs </= 2,000lbs, a 1st degree felony. (Lopez and Osvaldo booking photos not available at time of press release.) The plants were seized as evidence and the local DEA field office was notified.
The investigation is ongoing.
