On July 3, 2021, at approximately 10pm, an officer with the city of Splendora Police Department observed a white and red Ford truck stopping near the intersection of FM2090 with no brake lights. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, the driver failed to yield ensuing a pursuit. During the pursuit, speeds reached near 90 mph. Officer observed a female passenger throwing out possible narcotics out of the vehicle as they traveled down US Highway 59 South, which were recovered. The vehicle exited FM 1485 when the male driver attempted to get in-between two other vehicles causing him to lose control of the vehicle launching him into the large ditch on the South side of US 59 just past the FM 1485 exit ramp. As officers from Splendora Police Department and Montgomery County Pct 4 Constables Office approached the vehicle, officers observed one male and female exiting the vehicle and pulling out a infant child in a carseat from the vehicle. EMS and Fire were dispatched to the scene. The male, female were transported to a area hospital for minor injuries. The child was transported for precautionary evaluation. The Male is currently in custody for three outstanding Felony Warrants, for Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon, Felony Evading from Law Enforcement and Bond Forfeiture. Splendora PD has charged the male, who we have identified as 18 year old Jose Aragon, with Child Endangerment and Felony Evading. The female, who is a Juvenile, has been charged with Tampering with Evidence and Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance.
