On 8/5/2022 Friday night Officers withAlabama-Coushatta Tribe Police Department were patrolling near the One Stop gas station. They observed an occupied U-Haul truck in the parking lot. A check of the vehicle's registration revealed that it was reported stolen out of Humble.
As the Officer's investigation continued, the passenger was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine. The driver was arrested for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, and the passenger for Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Further investigation and information has led to a far wider investigation than originally anticipated. The location and recovery of multiple stolen U-Haul trailers / vehicles is on going. All of which stem from this initial contact and subsequent arrests.
Both of the individuals have been transferred and booked into the Polk County Jail for Felony Criminal Charges.
Friends, our Tribal Police Department members, both Telecommunicators and Police Officers know, the expectations and direction of this Agency have changed.
We are absolutely committed to doing our job, serving our community while providing protection from those who bring a Criminal Element to the community whom we serve.
The Great Nation of the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas is a very special place. It has been for many, many years. The People of this Tribe are a peaceful and welcoming community.
One caveat. They will no longer tolerate drugs, weapons, crime and violence upon their lands. With that, the expectations for their Police Department has risen, expediently.
With the support of our Tribal Elders, Administration and Membership, we are committed meeting those expectations.
The members of the Alabama-Coushatta Tribal Police Department remain grateful for your support. Thank you.
