On May 5, 2022, deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a residence on Stanwick Place, The Woodlands, in reference to a double death investigation. When they arrived, deputies identified the two deceased individuals as Gregory Blodgett, 17, and Irene Sunderland, 18.
During the investigation, it was believed the two students had died from a drug overdose but this was not confirmed until a complete forensic autopsy and toxicology had been completed. The results of the toxicology showed the presence of fentanyl.
Sheriff Henderson stated, This is an example of the recent law passed by the Texas Legislature that allows LE to charge those who provide illegal narcotics that cause the death of citizens. Let this be a warning to those who sell illicit narcotics in Montgomery County.
MC Law Enforcement is committed to finding you and holding you accountable not only for the selling of illicit narcotics but for the deaths that occur.

Two Woodlands High School found deceased. Thursday morning. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office confirmed, Thursday May 5, 2022, deputies responded to and is currently investigating the death of two Woodlands High School students. At this time we do not believe foul play is involved nor is there any danger to the public. The circumstances surrounding the death of the two students are pending a complete investigation. Please join us in praying for the families and friends of those impacted by this tragic loss. The school's principal, Dr. Ted Landry, shared this message to parents- It is with great sadness that I write to inform you about the loss of two of our senior Highlanders. While I am unable to provide more details at this time, I ask that you keep the families in your thoughts and prayers. Members of the CISD Crisis Support Team have been working with our campus administrators to provide support to students and staff. As your student processes this event, you may observe your child • demonstrating sadness, fear and/or confusion; • acting out or becoming withdrawn; • exhibiting anger about death; and • having concern for their own safety. Some ways you can support your child include • spending time with your child and assuring their safety; • talking about this event in an age appropriate context; • observing conversations, including text messages, your child is having with their peers; • having an open and honest discussion about feelings; and • encouraging writing, drawing, and journaling. If you would like to speak to a counselor, please call the campus. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact campus administration. My thoughts and my prayer today is with the family and friends of those students. As we approach Mother's Day, the end of the school year, the pain and grief and sadness is just exacerbated even more. Be kind. Keep an open heart. Reach out to those you love and cherish the most.
