On Thursday, May 14, 2020, a Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit was travelling North on US-59 when he checked the speed on a white Nissan Altima that was travelling at a high rate of speed.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop. The driver was identified as Feleite Jermaine Ray, B/M, DOB: 07/23/1990.
The deputy detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. While conducting the interview with Ray the deputy developed probable cause to search of the vehicle.
During the search of the vehicle the deputies located a clear plastic bag underneath the center console containing multi-colored pills believed to be ecstasy.
They also found some loose pills of the suspected drug underneath the back seat.
They then found approximately twelve (12) clear plastic bags containing the suspected ecstasy inside the back lining of the rear seats.
A total of thirteen bags were recovered with an approximate weight of 1,906 gram (68 ounces) of the suspected drug.
To this date, this is the largest ecstasy seizure in Liberty County. Due to the large amount that was seized,
Feleite Jermaine Ray was arrested and charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance – An accelerated felony.
Ray was transported to the Liberty County Jail without incident.
